DIY roof leak repair is a practical way to address minor leaks without needing professional help, saving both time and money. Finding the leak is usually the first step. This can be done by looking for noticeable gaps around vents and chimneys, cracked flashing, or broken or missing shingles on the roof. If found, simple materials for repairs can be substituted, such as sealants, roofing cement, and new shingles. Broken shingles are easily replaceable, but small holes or fractures can be filled with roofing cement. Water penetration around leaks in flashing can be stopped by replacing the flashing or using a waterproof sealant.
